Young Gambian launches book

On Saturday, 11th May 2019, a young Gambian Modou Lamin Sowe launched his book entitled Memories of Reflection at the Ebunjan Theatre. The author whose penname is ModouLamin Age-Musaf Sowe has written thirteen books to date.
At the program, Dr Cherno Omar Barry, President of the Writers’ Association of the Gambia who is also the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defense, urged Gambians particularly the young to read and write. He said every human being has an untold story and one should cultivate the courage to write one’s story.
Mr Hassoum Cesay, Director General of the National Council for Arts and Culture reviewed the book. He said that the story is a tragedy and offers a lot of lessons to society. He urged the young people to buy and read the book.
Mr Musa Bah, the Vice President of the Writers’ Association of the Gambia – who chaired the program – applauded the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education for approving the book as a supplementary reading material in schools. He said literature has to do with environment as well as students should be able to relate with the characters and places in the book.
There was a representative from the International Organization for Migration (IOM). The program was well attended.
