Esau Williams, a Gambian-born broadcast journalist who has been working for the BBC has announced that he will be leaving the corporate service after 13 years of service
He wrote on Facebook:
For someone who gets bored rather easily, spending 13 years and 6 months at the BBC must mean one of two things: Either it was such a fascinating place to work, or I must’ve lost my mind. I am pleased to say it was the former, and as is the life case, every journey has an end. This is my last week at the BBC, and I will be formally leaving the corporation – but I might pop in on the odd freelance shift. The BBC is a phenomenal place to work alongside the best journalists in the world (no exaggeration) just listen to or watch our programmes!
As to the future? Well, let’s see what comes next. In the meantime, I thank all the colleagues – past and present – whom I’ve had the privilege of spending 13 or so years with, and wish them well. To the audience who’ve bothered to tune in and listen to me, well, for the very last time I say, ‘Thank you for the privilege of your company’.
