Thione Seck, famous Senegalese musician, still battling money laundry charges

Musa Bah

Last Thursday, 8th May 2019, Thione Seck, 64, maintained his innocence of charges of money laundering in front of a judge in Dakar, Senegal.

These charges were brought against the famous star four years ago. This was prompted by the discovery of fake banknotes amounting to millions of euros and dollars in his home.

Lawyers representing him had said that he was the victim of a swindle as that money was paid to him by a producer as an advance payment for a tour he was about to embark on.

Thione, a forty year veteran of music, is well known for his poetic songs with some saying that he not only sings to entertain but preaches as well in his songs. He is the father of famed Wally Seck who has filled his father shoes well.
